As King Charles undergoes weekly cancer treatments in London, Prince William has stepped up to fulfill royal duties on behalf of his father and the crown.

In addition to his royal responsibilities, William is also supporting his wife, Catherine, who is recovering from planned abdominal surgery, and caring for their children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Recently, William attended a fundraising event for London’s Air Ambulance, where he expressed gratitude for the support extended to both his wife and father, particularly in recent days.

During the event, he shared a light moment with actor Tom Cruise, jokingly advising him not to “borrow” any of the helicopters for his next Mission Impossible film, saying, “If you wouldn’t mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters, it would be appreciated. We’ve all seen on our screens that, how can I put it, you seem to have a different take on normal wear and tear than the rest of us.”

Commenting on the significance of the gathering, William noted, “It’s fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather ‘medical’ focus. So I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all! But, seriously, we gather tonight to help as many people as possible benefit from the top-notch care provided by London Air Ambulance’s flying lifelines.

As a former pilot for East Anglia Air Ambulance, I understand the critical importance of air ambulance teams across the country and the life-saving difference they make by delivering urgent medical care when injuries occur.”

He emphasized the need for a new fleet of aircraft for London, stating, “The current aircraft have served magnificently, but our capital city needs a new fleet. We are up against time. The clue is really in the Appeal’s name. By September, we need the two new red helicopters—equipped with the latest technology, including night vision—flying in our skies.”

During the event, he also conversed with Ellen Convery, a former England women’s football team player. Meanwhile, King Charles is spending time at the Sandringham estate between his treatments, as he will not be attending public events during this period. The specifics of his cancer diagnosis have not been disclosed to the public.
