Billya Walden, an 18-year-old from Lancaster, UK, has been impressing everyone with his passion for working with his hands. Whether he’s repairing, creating, or restoring, his skills came to life recently when he turned a rusty, old boat into a stunning floating home for his family—all within just two months!

With the help of a £5,000 gift from his mother, which he used to buy the barge, Billy began his ambitious project. “I had a great time working on restoring this yacht,” he said, thrilled to create such a cozy, floating home for his family. Although the boat originally had a price tag of £12,000, Billy managed to negotiate a lower price after it didn’t pass all the tests. He then invested around £2,800 more to fully renovate the interior to his liking.

Now, the boat boasts enough bedrooms for everyone, a Jacuzzi, glass doors opening to the terrace, and even affordable Audi car seats for added comfort. It’s like a floating holiday home, perfect for family getaways during the warm summer months.

Billy didn’t shy away from the hard work. In fact, he was energized by watching the boat slowly transform into his dream project. He started by removing all the partitions to create an open space. The structure was rebuilt with wooden beams and metal profiles, and from there, Billy crafted the kitchen and dining area by hand, using wood to give the space a natural feel. The living area opens onto the terrace with glass doors, creating a bright and open atmosphere.

His mom and sister pitched in to decorate the bedrooms, adding cute curtains, inscriptions, and other charming details. Meanwhile, Billy turned the deck into an outdoor oasis for the family to relax.

The family now frequently enjoys trips on their newly restored boat, having already sailed hundreds of kilometers along canals and coastal waters. It has become one of their favorite ways to unwind together.
