On Friday, a shocking incident unfolded at the Berlin Zoo when a 32-year-old woman entered the polar bear enclosure during feeding time and was attacked.
The woman, identified only as Mandy K, managed to bypass multiple barriers, scaling a wall, pushing through hedges, and climbing a fence to reach the bears. Once inside, she suffered multiple bites to her arms and legs before zookeepers intervened.
Despite six staff members attempting to distract the four bears, one of them repeatedly attacked her. Eventually, the zookeepers were able to scare the bear away and rescue the woman.
Mandy K was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery for her injuries. It was later revealed that she is a teacher who had been struggling with unemployment and had reportedly felt hopeless.
She is now recovering, and authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the dangerous incident.
