Every year, millions of people visit the UK to soak in its rich history, stunning architecture, and countless pubs—because let’s face it, no one comes for the weather.

One of the biggest attractions is the royal pageantry, particularly in London, where Buckingham Palace stands as the heart of the monarchy.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the Number 12 Company Irish Guards officially took over duties from the Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

Traditionally, the King’s guards remain motionless while on duty, making them a perfect photo opportunity for tourists—though the same cannot be said for the horses.

At the Household Cavalry Museum, located at Horse Guards Parade near Buckingham Palace, visitors frequently pose for pictures with the guards and their horses. However, some tourists get more than they bargained for.

Shocking footage circulating online shows a tourist standing beside one of the horses when, without warning, the animal grabs her by the hair and yanks her backward. The video reveals that this particular horse has a habit of playfully nibbling at anyone who gets too close.

Perhaps the horse is taking its duty of protecting the King a little too seriously—or maybe it’s just having some fun while standing on duty. Either way, its antics have amused many.

What seems to go unnoticed by the startled tourists is the massive sign beside the horse that clearly warns: “BEWARE – Horses may kick or bite! Thank you.”

Commenters on the viral video found the situation more hilarious than concerning. One person wrote, “I love that this horse gets a bit of payback on the humans!” Another added, “The fact that it happened right in front of a warning sign makes it twice as funny.” A third simply stated, “The horse had the last laugh.”

Fortunately, all the tourists involved walked away unscathed—just a little shaken. As for the horse, it seems to be doing an excellent job of guarding the royal family!
