She woke up to sirens wailing, her son’s voice trembling with fear. “Mom, hold on! Help is coming!” But when she regained full consciousness in the hospital, the doctor’s words hit harder than any betrayal. She might never walk again.
Days later, David arrived—not to comfort her, but to deliver one final blow. Without a trace of remorse, he dropped divorce papers on the bedside table. “I’m leaving. Sarah and I are moving in together. Don’t contact me again.”
He didn’t even glance at Jake, who sat stiffly in the corner, his fists clenched in silent fury.

One evening, Jake sat beside her. “Mom, you’re still here. And if Dad left, that’s his loss. We don’t need him.”
His words ignited a small flicker of hope.
The next morning, for the first time, she allowed him to help her into her wheelchair. Jake had already started researching work-from-home jobs for her. “You’re great with computers, Mom. You can do this.”
Anna took a leap of faith and began working part-time in customer service. Encouraged by their small success, they expanded into online reselling, using her eye for antiques to buy and flip valuable items.
Slowly, their efforts paid off. What started as a side hustle became a thriving business. Two years later, they were featured in a local newspaper for building a million-dollar online empire.
Then, the unthinkable happened—David came crawling back.
Jake opened the door to find him on his knees, tears streaming down his face. “I made a terrible mistake. Sarah left me. I lost my job. I’ve been miserable without you both. Please, Anna. Give me another chance.”
