Out of the blue, my cat started acting unusually affectionate toward my mother, constantly licking her face. Then, when she sat on the couch, the cat did something completely out of character—she curled up in my mother’s lap. That was odd because this cat never sits with anyone but my dad.
We were all a bit puzzled. For some reason, the cat was completely focused on my mom. Then, suddenly, my mother’s heart began racing—over 200 beats per minute.
She suffers from recurring tachycardia episodes that usually require hospitalization to control. After she was treated and came back home, the cat was calm again—and it became clear to all of us: the cat had sensed something was wrong. She must have picked up on my mom’s condition and spent the entire day trying to comfort her. To this day, we still don’t understand how she knew.
