We rented a home that included a basement apartment, where a quiet woman lived below us. We rarely saw her, as she mostly kept to herself. The rental also came with a detached garage, which we primarily used for storing our belongings.

One day, she asked if she could put a small deep freezer in the garage. Since we weren’t using it for much else, we agreed without issue.

A few weeks later, her freezer somehow got unplugged. She was furious and demanded that we cover the cost of replacing the spoiled contents. While I understand why she was upset, we hardly ever went into the garage ourselves—it was strictly for storage.

In short, we definitely weren’t the ones who unplugged it, and our landlord backed us up. Still, she remained very angry about the situation.
