Marriage can be difficult, especially when a young couple with a baby lives under the same roof as their in-laws. Nineteen-year-old Rain knows this struggle firsthand. She often finds herself at odds with her mother-in-law over household duties and expectations. Feeling exhausted and unheard, Rain finally decided to speak up—and that’s when everything took a turn for the worse. In desperation, she reached out to us for guidance.

Here’s Rain’s story in her own words:

“My husband and I are both 21, and since we can’t afford our own place yet, we’re living with his parents while raising our baby. My mother-in-law expects me to clean up after everyone and do all the family’s laundry. I told my husband, ‘Stand up for me! I’m not your mother’s maid!’

When I came home later, I was stunned to find all my belongings gone—my closet completely empty. My mother-in-law had packed my things and left my suitcase by the door. She said, ‘If you can’t follow my rules in my house, then you’re not welcome here.’

What hurt the most was my husband’s reaction. He just shrugged and said, ‘Maybe it’s best if you go stay with your parents and take the baby until things cool down.’

I reminded him that I left everything behind to be with him. Feeling betrayed and heartbroken, I went back to my parents’ home. Now I’m here, feeling lost and helpless. Things are tense, and I don’t know what to do next.”
