None of us can truly foresee the consequences of our actions. Even when our intentions seem good, things sometimes take a completely wrong turn. We might attempt to fix the situation or laugh it off, but certain outcomes can’t be avoided.

For my birthday, my husband gave me a bottle of shower gel. I didn’t say anything at the time, but inside I was irritated. We weren’t struggling financially—I knew his business was doing well, and we had enough in our savings that he could have at least bought me flowers.

To make matters worse, I examined the shower gel more closely and realized he had chosen a scent I absolutely hated. Feeling hurt and unappreciated, I ended up in tears and, in a moment of frustration, poured the gel down the toilet.

Later, my husband came home cheerful and asked eagerly, “Did you find it?”

Only then did I discover the truth: he had hidden a ring inside the cap of the bottle, hoping to surprise me. In the end, he had to retrieve it from the toilet himself.
