When you miss a loved one at Christmas, it can be hard, but Scotty McCreery’s song “Christmas in Heaven” gives you some comfort in an unusual way.

It starts by describing a typical Christmas scene, which hasn’t changed this year except for the fact that a loved one is missing, which means everything has changed for that family.

Then Scotty shows everyone what “Christmas in Heaven” might be like. He talks about what our loved ones might be doing right now. “Are you singing Silent Night backwards?”

Even though the circumstances of the song are sad, it’s clear that the loved one has moved on to Heaven to celebrate the holiday.

So, through thought, people on earth must (in time) start getting back in touch with the traditions of Christmas here. That’s a tall and hard order; as many of you know, it’s easier to say than to do.
