The individual enjoys hands-on work, as evidenced by their constant tinkering with repairs, creating and remaking things, and even restoring an old Volkswagen camper van by themselves.

Recently, they turned an old, rusted boat into a stunning floating home for their family to enjoy during their leisure time, all in just two months!

The gentleman’s mother gave him £5,000, which he used to purchase the barge.

Billy recalls, “I had a fantastic time restoring this yacht. It’s amazing that I was able to build such a beautiful home for my family.”

Since much of the work involved building from scratch, it took considerable effort and time.

The boat was initially priced at around £12,000, but after it failed some tests, they managed to negotiate a lower price.

They then spent an additional £2,800 to completely revamp the interior according to their needs.

Now, the boat features enough bedrooms for everyone, a Jacuzzi, glass doors leading to the terrace, and even budget Audi car seats.

It’s like a vacation cabin, but on the water, making it the perfect spot for the family to relax during the warm summer months.

The restoration required a great deal of hard work to bring nearly everything back to its former glory.

Billy wasn’t daunted by the challenge; in fact, he was inspired by how the old boat gradually transformed into a dream home.

First, he removed all the internal partitions to create an open layout.

In certain parts of the frame, he used wooden beams and metal profiles, then started filling in the gaps as he progressed.

Billy personally built the boat’s kitchen and dining area.

To achieve a natural look, he ensured that all the furniture and finishes were made of wood.

Additionally, the open floor plan features glass doors leading to the terrace from the living area.

Billy’s mother and sister took care of the finishing touches in the bedrooms, adding cute curtains, artwork, and other charming details.

Billy also turned the deck into a relaxing outdoor space for the family.

Now, the family enjoys traveling on their newly finished floating home, regularly sailing hundreds of kilometers along the canal and shore.

“It’s one of our favorite ways to relax as a family,” Billy says.
