Despite his flaws, a man believed he had a loving family, only to later discover that they had been deceiving him for years, leading him to consider cutting ties with them permanently. On Reddit, user Electrical_Claim_69 sought advice from others, questioning if he was in the wrong. He shared that for nearly ten years, he helped raise his ex-wife’s five children, who weren’t his biological kids. He treated them as his own, even though their biological fathers weren’t involved in their lives.

During their separation, he worked out of state but still maintained regular communication with his ex-wife and the children, making an effort to be there for them as a father figure. He also managed their finances, continuing to support them financially.

However, everything changed when he found out about a major betrayal: the father of three of the children had been released from prison and was spending time with his ex-wife and children behind his back, something they had deliberately kept from him. He also discovered that the children had been complicit in hiding their mother’s relationships.

Feeling deeply hurt by the dishonesty, he decided to sever ties with both his ex-wife and her children for good. The story sparked many comments on Reddit and Facebook. Many users sided with him, praising his efforts but condemning how he was treated. However, some questioned his decision to cut off the children, asking how old they were and whether they had any influence over the situation.

Other commenters criticized his decision to marry a woman with five children from multiple fathers in the first place, seeing it as a red flag. One Facebook user remarked that dating someone with multiple children from different partners, especially with some fathers in prison, was setting himself up for disaster, calling such a person unstable.
