A Reddit user narrowly avoided a potential stalker thanks to advice she had read in multiple comments on the platform. While shopping at a mall with her husband, she decided to use the restroom before leaving. Her husband headed to the car to wait for her.
As she approached the restroom, she noticed a man inside who turned to look at her. A recent post about stalking immediately came to mind, where the top comment had warned: Never use a public restroom if you suspect you’re being followed. Trusting her instincts, she quickly changed course and moved back toward the main shopping area—but the man was still nearby.
Recalling another piece of advice—If you think someone is following you, enter a store they wouldn’t normally visit—she spotted a dollhouse shop and walked inside. The man followed her in, occasionally glancing in her direction, confirming her fears.
At that moment, fear turned into urgency. She rushed out of the store, only to realize the man was keeping pace with her. Gripping her phone, she called her husband and said, I’m being followed by the man behind me. Her husband immediately came to her aid, and upon seeing him, the suspicious man quickly disappeared.
Thanks to quick thinking and the wisdom shared by online strangers, she managed to escape what could have been a dangerous situation.
