My husband and I are currently living with our in-laws to save money, but my mother-in-law dislikes me and is eager for us to leave. Yesterday was my birthday, and I received a Tiffany bracelet as a gift. Without saying a word, my mother-in-law snatched the elegant box and opened it.

The moment she saw the bracelet, she exploded with anger, shouting, “How dare he spend money like that while staying in MY house? I should be the one receiving this jewelry, not you!” She assumed the gift had come from my husband.

Ironically, my husband only gave me a bouquet of flowers, which I completely understand since our priority is saving money. The bracelet was actually a gift from my mother, and it truly brightened my day. However, even after I explained this, my mother-in-law refused to apologize, insisting that she deserved the jewelry as compensation for allowing us to stay in her home.

The hostility in her eyes is both obvious and unsettling. Lately, she hasn’t been treating my husband well either. I’m not sure how to handle the situation until my husband is financially able to move us out.
