Children are often bursting with energy and creativity—some more than others.
I remember being about five years old and thinking it was a fantastic idea to decorate mine and my brother’s bunk beds with a marker. In my eyes, it was a masterpiece… though my parents weren’t quite as thrilled.
For a group of kids from Surrey, UK, their creativity came in handy in a much more urgent situation. While participating in an Easter egg hunt for a charity event benefiting a boy with leukemia, they suddenly heard a helicopter overhead.
Looking up, they realized it was a police helicopter in pursuit of two suspected burglars. As the men split up and fled in different directions, the children saw exactly where they went—and quickly took action.
With brilliant teamwork, they lay down on the grass, forming a human arrow to point the officers in the right direction.
At first, the police were puzzled, but then it clicked—they were being guided by the children on the ground. Thanks to their quick thinking, the suspects, aged 27 and 28, were later arrested on suspicion of burglary.
In a heartwarming gesture, the police later returned to personally thank the young heroes for their clever intervention.
