A young woman told her grandparents that she needed their names for a “college assignment,” asking them to write them down on a piece of paper. In reality, she planned to have their signatures tattooed on her body. She later recorded their emotional reaction as she revealed the tattoos to them.
Agustina shared on Twitter that she had asked her grandparents for their signatures under the pretense of a university project, but her true intention was to create a permanent tribute by inking their names on her skin.
In addition to sharing a deeply touching video that quickly went viral, she documented the entire process and wrote, “His reaction is something I will never forget.”
As she handed her grandfather a pen and paper, she encouraged him, saying, “It’s for a university project, so make it nice.” After he finished writing, she did the same with her grandmother.
The following day, she returned to their home to reveal the surprise and capture their heartfelt reactions.
“Do you remember writing your name for my school project?” she asked her grandfather, pointing to the tattoo. “Look, here it is.”
At first, he took a moment to process what he was seeing. Then Agustina asked, “Grandpa, it says ‘Marcos’ in your own handwriting—do you like it?” Overwhelmed with emotion, he burst into tears and embraced her tightly.
Her grandmother, who was in the kitchen, was equally moved when she saw the tattoos. Hugging her granddaughter, she asked, “How could I not love it?”
When Marcos asked how long the tattoo would last, Agustina replied, “Forever.” Upon hearing that, he became even more emotional, crying once again.
The video quickly gained traction, racking up over 23,000 likes and 1,500 retweets. People flooded the comments with heartfelt messages, with many reminiscing about their own grandparents and sharing their own meaningful tattoos. Memes also began circulating, reflecting the deep emotional impact of the moment.
One user wrote, “I can’t wait to see my grandparents again,” while another posted a meme of a woman crying into her phone, captioned, “This is me right now.”
Even public figure Alberto Samid joined the conversation, commending Agustina for her thoughtful gesture. Someone commented, “You’re amazing, girl!”
“You made me cry,” another user wrote. “From the bottom of my heart, I want to congratulate you for bringing so much joy to your grandparents.”
The story also inspired others to share their own tattoo tributes. “I have a tattoo of my grandfather’s name too, though he never got to see it,” one woman shared alongside a photo. “I got it to always keep a piece of him with me.”
