Mom Gives Birth in Uber Near Lincoln Tunnel — Baby Just Couldn’t Wait!

Around 6 a.m. on April 23, Satya-Senthil began feeling strong contractions — a full two weeks before her due date. Surprised but determined, she and her husband Kartik quickly sprang into action. While Kartik brought their eldest daughter to the neighbors, Satya got ready for a speedy trip to the hospital.

The couple hailed an Uber and set off from Jersey City toward Tish Hospital in Midtown Manhattan. But morning traffic had other plans. Stuck near the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, the situation quickly escalated — Satya’s water broke, and active labor began right there in the back seat.

Realizing the urgency, the Uber driver jumped out to flag down nearby police officers. Thankfully, help arrived just in time.

Just minutes later, at 7:30 a.m., a beautiful baby girl named Sai Lakshmi was born inside the vehicle. Kartik even had the honor of cutting the umbilical cord himself.

Shortly afterward, emergency personnel transported the family to Hoboken Hospital, where both mom and baby were reported to be healthy and doing well.

Let’s all send our warmest wishes to this incredible family — and to little Sai Lakshmi, who made a truly unforgettable entrance into the world!
