A young boy who fell in love with the puppy his family fostered wrote a touching letter to her future adopters. Roman Duncan’s family fostered Maggie, a sweet puppy from North Shore Animal League America. Since Maggie was too young for adoption, the Duncans cared for her at their home in Louisiana. Each day, Roman and his family taught Maggie to play fetch, go potty outside, and showered her with love and cuddles.

Roman’s mother explained that they were only fostering Maggie until she found her forever home, but Roman was heartbroken at the thought of letting her go after caring for her for so long. Wanting to make sure Maggie would be loved just as much by her new family, Roman wrote a heartfelt letter introducing her.

“Dear Maggie new famaley,” Roman’s letter read.
“Maggie is really adorable. Maggie likes playing fech. Maggie has been potty-trained. Maggie is the best dog ever. She loves kisses. She loves other dogs. Maggie is our favorite. We hope you love her as much as we do.”

When Maggie returned to North Shore Animal League America to await adoption, rescue team manager Karla Agostinello found Roman’s sweet letter—and was deeply moved.
“I was so touched,” Karla said. “It’s always hard for fosters to load the animals onto the truck. I often get letters from adults, but rarely from children, which made Roman’s note even more special.”

Maggie is thriving and has since been adopted by a loving family, who were touched by Roman’s words and felt an even stronger bond with their new furry family member thanks to his heartfelt message.
