Kentucky Mom Sees ‘Hand of God’ in Ultrasound of Unborn Son
A Kentucky mother believes she witnessed a divine sign during a recent ultrasound, calling it nothing short of a modern miracle.
In April 2022, 33-year-old Amanda Foster shared a touching Facebook post featuring an ultrasound image of her unborn son, Jay. She celebrated the good news that his kidneys were healthy, free of cysts, with strong blood flow—and most importantly, there were no signs of Potter syndrome, a rare and often fatal disorder that affects kidney development, especially in male babies.

A History of Heartbreak
Amanda’s fears came from a traumatic loss in her teens. At 17, she delivered her first son, Xavier, at just 20 weeks. He had been diagnosed with Potter syndrome and did not survive. The heartbreak was profound. “I remember thinking, ‘If God takes my baby, He might as well take me too,’” she shared in an emotional post. The experience left her grieving and hopeless, especially after doctors warned her that carrying a healthy baby boy might not be possible due to the condition’s gender-linked risks.
But years later, Amanda and her husband, Kyle, welcomed two healthy daughters. Then, in August 2022, came baby Jay — their first healthy son.
Facing New Fears
Amanda is now pregnant with another baby boy, Kyler, but this pregnancy has come with its own serious challenges. Early ultrasounds revealed Kyler had a congenital heart defect — an aortic septum issue — placing Amanda in a high-risk category.
Before every appointment, Amanda would pray fervently, asking God for strength and protection for her unborn son.
An Image of Hope
At one recent scan, Amanda brought her daughter, Bailey, who was the first to notice something striking in the ultrasound. “She looked at the screen and asked, ‘Whose hand is that?’” Amanda remembered. The image appeared to show a large hand gently cupping Kyler’s head — a moment Amanda took as a sign of divine presence. Overwhelmed with emotion, she said, “I just broke down in tears. I know God has been with me through it all. I can’t imagine life without Him.”
Awaiting a Blessing
On June 20, Amanda provided a joyful update. At 36 weeks, Kyler was doing well — weighing over seven pounds and practicing his breathing. “He’s the biggest baby I’ve ever carried,” she wrote proudly. “He’s measuring ahead of schedule, and I’m so ready to hold him.”
To Amanda, the ultrasound is far more than a medical scan — it’s a sacred reminder of faith, healing, and the strength to hope again after enduring deep sorrow.
