My cat suddenly became unusually attentive to my mother, persistently licking her face. Later, as she sat on the sofa, the cat climbed into her lap—something completely out of character since she only ever sits with my father.
She never chooses anyone else’s lap, so we were baffled by her behavior. It was as if she was fixated on my mother for some unknown reason. Then, out of nowhere, my mother’s heart rate skyrocketed to over 200 bpm.
She suffers from recurring tachycardia episodes that often require hospitalization to bring under control. When she returned home after treatment, the cat had calmed down, and we all realized she must have sensed it coming! Somehow, she knew something was wrong and spent the entire day keeping a watchful eye on my mother. To this day, we have no idea how she knew.
