I never got along with my daughter-in-law, but I still invited her to a family event. She brought a pie and said with a smile, “I made it just for you.” When I tasted it, something felt off, so I took a closer look. My heart sank when I saw there was a piece of plastic wrap in it.
She gave me a sheepish grin and admitted, “I used a pre-made mix… I was too busy to bake it from scratch.” I couldn’t believe she lied about making it herself.
I was furious, not only because of the pie, but because it felt like she didn’t take our family gatherings seriously at all.
My husband tried to brush it off with a laugh, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that she had disrespected me once again.
