When my husband, Sean, and I found out we were expecting, we had no idea what was in store for us. One morning, I woke up feeling terribly unwell—my whole body ached, and I could barely move. We immediately called for help, and I had already packed our “just-in-case” hospital bag with all the essentials and documents.

As the medical team rushed me into the hospital, Sean waited outside, unaware of the surprise that awaited us both. Within just a few hours, I delivered—not one, but two baby girls! It was a complete shock. Throughout all the prenatal checkups, we were told there was only one baby. But my large belly, we later learned, was due to a big baby and excess amniotic fluid, which masked the presence of a second child.

Sean was stunned and completely unprepared. I called my mother-in-law to share the unexpected news, and she warmly congratulated us, calling it a “double blessing.” Just then, my doctor entered the room and overheard our conversation.

Based on what he heard, he actually tried to convince me to take only one of the babies home and leave the other at the hospital. But in the end, we brought both of our daughters home, and he later apologized for his initial reaction.

Now, sixteen years later, our daughters are inseparable and the best of friends. They help around the house, and my mother-in-law, Neas, never stops praising them. I couldn’t be prouder of the wonderful young women they’ve become.
