Even when life seems unbearably dark, we must remember—there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. That light eventually found its way to a man named Sean, whose heart was so big he gave away his children’s only lunch money to help a complete stranger.
Sean once held a high-paying management position. He lived in a comfortable Oakland apartment with his wife and children. Life was good—until it wasn’t. Caught off guard, Sean responded, “Shouldn’t you look for someone more financially secure?”
Matthew shook his head. “That day, I asked several people for help. Even a man driving a Lexus turned me down. But you gave me your last $2 without hesitation. That tells me more about your character than any resume ever could. I want heart in my company, not just money.”
Sean said yes.
Soon, he had enough to move his family into a proper apartment. But he didn’t stop there—he reached back to the tent community and offered jobs to others who had once shared in his struggle.
What started as a selfless act changed everything for Sean. He gave what little he had, and in return, gained a new life.
