On my first day at a new job, I decided to make a good impression. I spotted someone who looked like the manager, approached him, and introduced myself.
Without skipping a beat, he said, “No time to waste,” and handed me a few unusual tasks. So, eager to prove myself, I jumped right in and got to work.
An hour later, my phone rang. It was from the company.
The voice on the line asked, “Are you aware that today is your first day?”
I answered, “Yes! I’m actually here right now. David already gave me some assignments.”
There was a pause. Then came the question: “Who’s David?”
Turns out—I’d been taking orders from a complete stranger who didn’t even work there. We all had a good laugh about it later. Let’s just say, it was a memorable start to the job!
