Forgiving infidelity is never easy—especially when the betrayal comes at one of the most vulnerable moments in life. One woman shared on Reddit how her husband cheated on her just after she gave birth. Now, she’s ready to get even.
“I found out through our shared iPad,” she wrote. “He had been texting another woman—and it started right after I gave birth. I was devastated. I loved him so much, and it felt like my heart shattered.”
She admitted that despite the heartbreak, her curiosity overpowered her anger. She wanted answers—what did this other woman have that she didn’t? She became obsessed with their messages. “He was suddenly energized and excited. She was single, no kids, and had the freedom to make him her priority. Meanwhile, I was caught up in the whirlwind of caring for our newborn, and he felt neglected.”
Still secretly reading their texts, she began formulating a plan.
“I decided to become everything he dreamed of,” she said. “At first, it felt unnatural, and he seemed confused—but I kept it up. Whenever he tried to meet her, I’d come up with a reason to keep him home or made sure he was too tired to enjoy it.”
Over time, things shifted. The messages between him and the other woman grew less frequent, the spark faded, and she started to complain. Eventually, he pulled away from her. “He was happy at home again. He texted me sweet messages, said he missed me, and acted like the man I once loved.”
And then came the moment she’d been waiting for.
“He ended the affair. Told her he still loved me. That she wasn’t needed anymore. I felt relieved—but I wasn’t done yet.”
Behind the scenes, she had prepared everything. “I found an apartment for myself and the baby. I split the money and moved my share into a secure account. Now I’m ready. He’ll receive the divorce papers the same day I leave to start our new life.”
She expected criticism from some who might say she drove him away. “But I didn’t mean to,” she explained. “I was overwhelmed with the arrival of our child, adjusting to motherhood, and trying to embrace my changing body. He could’ve opened up to me. He could’ve asked for help. But instead, he cheated. He destroyed everything we had.”
