What a showman! He was born to be on stage.

Mel Day, from Birmingham, is 77 years old, but his performance on Britain’s Got Talent made all four judges gasp for air. Even Simon Cowell danced in his seat.

Mel told them later that he had been singing since he was a child. He had “let so many people down” that Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams, and Alesha could only love him.

“My dream is to win this show,” Day told the judges. “Yes, that’s why I’m here.”

With all his soul and funk, Mel makes you think of James Brown. This man loves being on stage, and it’s easy to see.

Simon was right, too. Mel may have been turned down a lot, but now was the right time. The 77-year-old singer got 4,004 YESES from the crowd and from the four judges.

Mel Day will definitely be a lot of fun to watch in the next rounds.
